Beyond My Reach -- Poetry 2011
Tasting the salt of your demise
burns taste buds dry; cracking
the nodes into releasing miniscule
blood cells… the detected metallic
tang overriding ocean brine.
Composing departure salutations
while digging a small grave,
tears kiss the earth – small drops
barely discernable against rich soil.
Stroking your ebony fur one last
time, I wish your soul peace.
Nestled against your remains,
a Polar Star white rose bush guides
your last journey beyond my reach…
