Life’s Value -- Poetry 2011

Settling for rest,

a good night’s rest,

a normal bedtime,

a worry free sleep

but her dreams were

as agonizing as her days.

Grim penetrated

dawn and dusk

making a gray smudge

across her soul.

Dull as death

sitting across from her;

she looked into the cowl…

she didn’t fear it.

It’s welcome smile

unsullied by lies.

True to its being,

impatient to get on

its way with so many

appointments to fill.

Sign here to cross over early…

Is there an incentive?

Well, no. You have

depreciated life’s value…
