Recharged -- Poetry 2011

Odd how she hid from the summer...

winter gloom and early night bothered her

sense of wellbeing but here long days

were ignored as far as soaking up the sun.

preferring night, not alluding to the current

vampire craze, she just liked it more than day.

preferred walking her dogs at the stroke of midnight

rather than face noon intense rays...

the irony was her heavy duty light box;

her knight engaged in the war against SAD –

Seasonal Affective Disorder.

sitting before the glow in October's shorting daylight,

she blasted herself intensely for fifteen minutes

a day; then stayed up half the night since her batteries

were fully recharged... thus avoiding sleeping alone.
